Peacefully, at Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich, on Saturday July 31, 2010, Stewart Elmore Thiel, passed away in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Alice (Lawson) Thiel (1995). Dear father of [...]. Loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law of [...]. Missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents George and Ellen (Prang) Thiel, one son Ronald, grandson Steven Thiel, daughters-in-law Mary Thiel and Mary Walker-Thiel, sisters Alice (Wes) Hugill, Helen (Karl) Haberer and brothers Earl, Charles, Lewis, Laird and Leroy (Marie) Thiel. Stewart was a well known dairy farmer and horseman and was one of the first members of the Canadian Haflinger Association. Visitation in the J. M. McBeath Funeral Home, 49 Goshen St. N, Zurich on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich. Pastor Nadine Schroeder-Kranz officiating. Interment St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or the Bluewater Rest Home Building Fund.
