James Arthur at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines on October 19th, 2002 aged 80 years. Beloved husband of the late Grace (Wurm) Stead (November 2nd, 1996). Father of James A. Stead and grandfather of Cassie. Predeceased by his parents Samuel (1948) and Agnes (1992) Stead and 3 sisters Irene Brain, June Martin and ?Dolly? Dorothy Rice. Uncle of several nieces and nephews. Jim was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the Royal Canadian Army Services Corps. He was a Past-President and Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17, Thorold. Visitation and a Legion Memorial Service were held at the Karl A. Hammond Funeral Home and Chapel, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold (905-227-1732). Funeral Services were held on October 21, 2002. The Rev. Dr. Cathie Crawford Browning officiated. Interment Veteran?s Section of Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold.
