- Daniel Pool was raised in Markham Township, York County, Ontario. According to an article published in 1896 in Physicians and Surgeons of America, after public school in his native town, Daniel Pool attend at the Markham High School, the Hamilton Collegiate Institute and at the Waterdown High School. He was a public school teacher from 1875 to 1879 and then began his study of medicine with the late Dr John Reed of Thornhill, Ontario. The article also indicates that he studied for four years at the Medical Faculty at the University of Toronto and graduated in 1885. Upon graduation in 1885 he relocated to the United States, settling in St. Paul's, Minnesota. The 1900 census lists marital status as single. He is a physician employing an English servant and a Swedish coachman.

POOL, Daniel, St. Paul, Minn., son of John and Ann (McGillivray) Pool, grandson of John Pool, was born May 4, 1860, at Markham, Canada. He was educated in the public schools of his native town; in the Markham High school; at the Hamilton Collegiate Institute, Canada; and at the Waterdown High school, Canada. He taught in the public schools from 1875-'79, and in 1880 engaged in the study of medicine, with the late Dr. John Reed, of Thornhill, Canada; attended lectures for four years thereafter at the University of Toronto, Medical Faculty, and was graduated in 1885. He commenced the practice of medicine the same year, at St. Paul, Minn.
Dr. Pool is a member of the Ramsey County Medical Society; of the Minnesota State Medical Society; of the Royal Arcanum; Modern Woodmen of America; Independent Order of Foresters; and the Sexennial League. He is a general practitioner, but gives special attention to the diseases of women, to which his practice is largely confine. Unmarried.
