- Obituary:
Mabel was born in Naicam, Sask. and was the third child in a family of six. She attended Home School in the Naicam district, and married Morris in 1935 at Rose Valley, Saskatchewan. They lived in Spalding where they owned the grocery store and hotel. After Morris became ill in 1940, Mabel began working in the grocery store and continued to work until 1973. Mabel and Morris lived in a number of places before setfllng in Eastend where they operated a grocery store. She enjoyed people and loved to sing and play cards. She was a member of the Gardenia Rebekali Lodge. Mabel had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to tell jokes. She had an appreciation for style and always had to be properly dressed. The girls at the lodge called her their Barbie doll. Mabel enjoyed her grandchildren and was always there for them. She was very lonely after Morris passed away. Mabel lived in the lodge for 9 years and it literally became her home.
She was predeceased by her husband Morris in 1994, her parents Herman in 1984 and Turina in 1968. one sister Ina Ballard, brothers Lester Olson and Oscar Olson, brother-in-law Vernon Eklund all in 2004, brothers-in-law Martin Hoffos in 1995 and Leon Ballard in 2005.
She is survived by.......
