      George E. Rees, 87, of Bad Axe, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2003, following an extended illness. He was born on April 21, 1916 in Rapson, son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Bryce) Rees. He married [.....]. He was a member of the Bad Axe High School Class of 1934. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre from 1943 to 1946. He worked for the Detroit Edison Company 43 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed bowling and golf. He is survived by [.....] and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Varney; three brothers, Wilbur, Bryce, and Robert Bruce Rees. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jan Dykshoorn, pastor. Interment will be in Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be offered to the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church or the Huron Memorial Hospice.
