  1. 1.  Mary Jane Hulse was born about 1866 in Lloydtown, Ontario (daughter of Henry Hulse and Mary Doyle).

    11. Mary Jane4 HULSE (child of Henry3, Thomas2, Samuel1);[127],[128] born circa 1866;[96] married Henry M. Holtorf, son of Christopher Holtorf and Elizabeth Sandford, 12 May 1886 at Orangeville, Ontario, Canada; where Henry was 28, a merchant, son of Christopher Holtorf and Elizabeth Sandford. Mary Jane Hulse was 19, daughter of Henry Hulse and Alice Doyle. Henry's brother Reuben was witness. As per family lore, Henry and Mary Jane eloped;[129],[130] married Alfred E. B. Burton Stoddart 3 Jun 1901 at Trinity Church, Bradford, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada; where Burt was a farmer and son of Wilson & Matilda Stoddart. Mary Jane was a hotel keeper's daughter, and widow;[131] died circa 1946.[96]

    She was also known as May Hulse.[132] She and Henry M. Holtorf lived in Mar 1887 at Orangeville, Dufferin Co., Ontario, Canada; for a time after their marriage, where Henry was a merchant.[133] It may be that Henry and Mary Jane had left Ontario by the time their daughter Irene was born circa 1889. Her birth registration was not recorded in Ontario.[134] She and Alfred E. B. Burton Stoddart appeared on the census of 1911 at Barrie Street, Bradford, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada; where Burton (41) a farmer, Mary J. (44), Hulse (9), and Baldwin ((7) were present, plus three English servants: Henry Clifford (56), Noel Lowry (21), and Margaret Renolds (16).[135]


    Henry M. HOLTORF[136],[137] was born circa 1861 at Canada West (Ontario), British North America (Canada).[138] He emigrated in 1887; direction of travel through U.S./Canada border unknown, using the name Hans Henry Holtorf.[139] He emigrated in 1898; appears to have been his second crossing, though these immigration details may belong to different Henry Holtorf from ours.[139]

    Children of Mary Jane4 Hulse and Henry M. Holtorf were as follows:

    16. i. Alice Theresa5 Holtorf, born 1 Mar 1887 at Orangeville, Dufferin Co., Ontario, Canada; married Edward James Elliott Morton.

    ii. Mabel Irene Holtorf; born 1889; possibly in the United States;[140],[141] married Harvey Barnett circa 1908.[142]

    She was confirmed in 1904 at Trinity Church, Bradford, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada; at age 15, and at the same ceremony as George Dean Morton (1881-1968) received his confirmation.[143] She was a nurse at Toronto General Hospital between 1908 and 1910 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[144]

    Alfred E. B. Burton STODDART was born on 3 May 1872 at Ontario, Canada.[145],[146] He died on 2 Oct 1948 at age 76.[147] He appeared on the census of 1901 at Bradford, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada; where Burton (28) lived with George German (27) and George Robinson (35).[148]

    Children of Mary Jane4 Hulse and Alfred E. B. Burton Stoddart both born at Bradford, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada, were as follows:

    i. Burton Hulse5 Stoddart;[149],[149] born 22 Aug 1902.[150]
    ii. Baldwin Henry Wilson Stoddart;[151],[151] born 17 Feb 1904.[152],[153]

    1. Alice Theresa Holtorf was born on 01 Mar 1887 in Orangeville, Dufferin County, Ontario; was buried in Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Holland Landing, Gwillimbury East Township, York County, Ontario.
    2. Irene Mabel Holtorf was born on 20 Feb 1889 in Orangeville, Dufferin County, Ontario.

    Mary married A.E. Burton B. Stoddart on 03 Jul 1901 in Bradford, Simcoe County, Ontario. A.E. (son of Wilson Stoddart and Matilda Hastings) was born on 3 May 1873 in Bradford, Simcoe County, Ontario; died on 2 Oct 1948; was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Gwillimbury Township, Simcoe County, Ontario. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
